7Remember To Rest
Slow Down, Stay A While
When you rest at a bonfire inDark Souls, the world immediately resets, and you automatically regain your health and stamina. However, this is not the case inBlack Myth Wukong.
When you access each checkpoint Shrine,the game requires you to actively select the ‘Rest’ option, meaning that you can activate a checkpoint, walk away, and end up entering a new area with low health and mana by accident.

So, when you use a Shrine, try to be mindful of your HP and Mana before you head out again, because the last thing you want to do is enter a boss arena with no access to spells, Transformations and spirits.
8Unlock Transformations Early

Speaking of non-essential boss fights, General Guangzhi is a boss that you will find near the ‘Outside The Forest’ Shrine, but unlike the Wandering Wight, this is one that I would urge players to take on right away.
This is not only because this boss istied to the Three Bells side quest, but alsobecause killing them will give you access to a powerful fire-based transformation spell.
This allows you to embody the boss that you defeated for a brief spell, and in the case of theRed Tidesspell, you may use attacks that inflict burn build-up and powerful chained dash attacks.
It is a relatively tough early game fight, but one that will make all those thereafter much easier.
9Don’t Be Too Proud To Grind
Farm All That Tasty XP
Regardless of how good you are at hard games, you can’t deny thatBlack Myth Wukongis one that will give you a tough time on more than one occasion, and there is no shame in taking a break from a boss you are stuck on to grind your character.
Leveling up, upgrading your skills with Sparks, and grinding for Will and resources to upgrade your gear can really make all the difference.
In the early game,it can be beneficial to map out a decent farming spot with strong enemies that drop decent amounts of XP and Will per kill,and then you can simply kill them, rest at a Shrine, and rinse and repeat until you feel better equipped to take on the boss that was bothering you.
10Upgrade Your Armor and Staff
Never Hurts To Have Better Gear
As you make your way through the first chapter and access more Shrines, you will eventually unlock a new function that will allow you to craft weapons and armor. This is an essential thing to do if you want to make sure that you can melt enemy health bars as effectively as possible.
This will require some specific items and a sizable sum of Will, but if you diligently explore and engage with all the side content, you should have enough to commission these upgrades.
When it comes to weapons, players should attempt to get their hands on theTwin Serpent Staff as soon as possible, and upgrade to theWind Bear Staffwhen it becomes available later.
Then, as for Armor,the Pilgrim’s Armor is a solid early-game option, but you’ll want to upgrade to theSerpentscale set or the Ebongold Set.
