Gaming is the ultimate opportunity for escapism and to live fantasies beyond what is possible in our day-to-day lives. It’s a chance to play as a hero of the realm,a super-soldier that acts as a one-man army,or an adventurer of great repute charting an unknown land. So, I ask you, why would you settle for a character that is anything less than a demi-god?
10 Games That Make You Feel Like John Wick
Become who you send to kill the boogeyman.
Sure, you could roleplay as a meek little underdog and gradually build them up into the character they are destined to be. But let’s face it, we are all busy people with packed schedules, so why wait for that delayed gratification? Don’t you want to enjoy that power fantasy right this second?
If you do, then you’ll want to play one of these excellent games that offer you the chance to play as a massively overpowered character or beast right from the word go. Allowing you to get your kicks right from the opening credits without needing to grind your way to the top of the totem pole.

Evil Incarnate
You’ve probably seen many movies and played many games where a military experiment goes awry and a scientific abomination emerges from the lab to wreak havoc on humanity, but rarely are you ever given the chance to seethings from the perspective of the monster.
Carrion is a game that allows you to do just that, offering you the chance to control a devastatingly powerful creature that looks and behaves like Carnage of Spider-Man fame, and this amorphous red blob made exclusively of tendons and rage has an insatiable bloodlust.

There’s no cognitive nuance about this creature. It comes out of the gate angry, and from the first moment, you can use your otherworldly powers to tear military personnel limb from limb, growing more powerful with each kill.
By the end of the game, you’ll be truly unstoppable, but even in the early hours, you’re a force to be reckoned with, ready and willing to terrorize the city above.

10Vampire Survivors
Power Beyond Comprehension
Vampire Survivors
If you ever want to feel insanely powerful without barely having to do anything at all to achieve said power, thenVampire Survivors is a must-play.
Right from the first run with the most basic character the game has to offer in its wide roster, as long as you bide your time, collect XP orbs as they drop, and pick power-ups with synergy, you can have a winning run that draws out The Reaper himself.

Within mere minutes, you’ll go from a lowly character casting the occasional projectile or swinging their sword occasionally to a grotesquely overpowered god that is causing an incomprehensible laser light show on screen that should come with an epilepsy warning.
It’s a trend that continues from one run to the next, and for the most part, all you need to do is stand there and let your power-ups do the work for you. When you may set the controller down and just watch the chaos unfold, you know you’re way too overpowered.

Hey, Zombies! Bite Me!
Dead Island 2
In the vast majority of games where zombies have taken over the wider world, they tend to be best avoided, as one bite could spell the end. However, in Dead Island 2 the very real threat of zombies doesn’t seem to phase anyone. Probably because the horrors that walk LA on a daily basis are more terrifying than anything the undead could muster.
Coupled with the light-hearted tone and the fact that this game doesn’t take itself too seriously, you also play as a character who confidently struts through the streets of LA armed with an array of melee weapons and a can-do attitude.
This means that from the moment you begin this undead adventure, you’ll be able to smash skulls, use the environment to electrify infected, and before long, you’ll be able to use zombie powers of your own to claw the faces off your bitten brethren. So, grab a bonk stick of your choice and get going.
Powered By The Gods
This one might be luck and skill-dependent, as the game does set its stall out as one where dying is part of the experience. But, if your luck is in,and you’re a veteran of the hack and slash genre, you could just walk into Tartarus feeling as powerful as the gods of Olympus lending you a hand.
With the right boons in the right order, and enough trips to see your old buddy Charon, you’re able to easily create a build in your first run that makes you feel near-unstoppable, allowing you to blitz past Megaera and onward towards Olympus.
Granted, big daddy Hades and his cronies will likely smack you down before you get to the summit, but even still, from the outset, you’ll be laying waste to demons with ease.
7God of War (2018)
God of War
I’ll concede that this game is a typical western ARPG, meaning that you’ll spend the entire game getting new loot to gain more power, and unlocking notches of a skill tree to access new abilities. However, even with that in mind, the fact remains that you’re still playing as Kratos, a literal god-slayer.
It might seem like Kratos is past his best when you take controlof a calmer, paternal version of the Spartan. But it isn’t long before you’re forced to showcase your might when Baldur comes knocking.
This leads to a cinematic fight that would put Marvel to shame and immediately allows players to click back into the GOW series, harnessing the power of Kratos. Then, before you know it, you’re tearing limbs, massacring valkyries, and so much more. He may be a little older, but Kratos still doesn’t mess around.
Shark In The Water!
In the animal kingdom, a baby animal is just about the cutest thing in the world, no matter what the species. A baby lion cub is adorable, a baby rhino is delightfully cute, and watching a little elephant play in the mud is heartwarming. But, you know what’s always dangerous right from birth? A shark.
Forget anything that Ocean Ramsey told you, because in Maneater, you play the role of a fledgling shark on its path to becoming a megaladon, and naturally, this is a revenge story that loosely mirrors the events of Jaws.
You will get more powerful as you go, but even as a relative guppy, you’ll be able to slay Barracudas, emerge from the depths to cause havoc up above the water line, and put those sets of teeth to use.
Sure, it’s a far cry from the later stages of the game where you’re taking on an armed fleet of coastguards and laying waste to them with ease. But, considering you’re fresh out of the womb, the power you have right from the outset is very impressive.
5Just Cause 2
Physics Are Merely A Suggestion
Just Cause 2
In all fairness, you’re able to pick whatever Just Cause game you like for the purposes of this list, as they all share the same common theme that, from the moment you begin, you’re capable of mass destruction.
So, I opted to go with my personal pick of the bunch, Just Cause 2. It might not have the same bells and whistles as the later titles, but it offers the simplest, most accessible, and cathartic open-world explode-a-thon in my humble opinion.
Armed to the teeth with weapons, and a grappling hook and parachute combo that defies the laws of physics, you’ll be able to swoop down from the heavens, blow your enemies to kingdom come, and slowly but surely reclaim the island of Panaufrom the tribes that would rather strip it of its natural resources.
It’s pure mayhem, but thankfully, you’re the one causing it. So, pack your parachute, stock up on rockets, and free-fall into the action.
4Devil May Cry
Devil’s Never Cry
Devil May Cry
Again, take your pick of which DMC game you want to include here, as all games within the franchise fit like a glove, but I’m going to go with a blast from the past and feature the OG Dante adventure.
From the opening cut-scene alone, when we watch our hero get impaled with a sword only to volley a motorcycle at his foe with bullets, it’s pretty clear that this guy isn’t any ordinary Joe. He’s the son of Sparda for crying out loud.
So, from the moment you gain control of Dante, you’re able to expect to emulate the same level of anime-level madness on a regular basis, using your massive sword and pistols akimbo to chain sick combos and achieve S-ranks more consistently than Sonic the Hedgehog.
It’s mindful button-mashing that makes you feel like an indestructible force of nature. Mainly because that’s exactly what you are, so don’t let any of those pesky bladed puppets let you think otherwise.
3Prototype
Feels Like The Finished Product
While it may be a stretch to call Prototype a superhero game, it is a game where you have access to superhuman powers from the first minute, and they are a blast to mess around with.
You’re a walking ball of chaos, and the game is more than happy to let you bounce around the streets of NYC, running up buildings, absorbing puny pedestrians for your own personal gain, and slicing and dicing anyone that gets in your way.
Unlike other open-world games where you need to acquire good gear or work your way towards filling a skill tree to feel godlike, Prototype gives you everything you need, making Alex Mercer feel like an unstoppable entity immediately, and upgrades you unlock only add to the visceral violence on screen.
Fair warning, they will throw everything but the kitchen sink at you to stop your rampage. But, unless they catch you napping, you’ll have more than enough in your super-human arsenal to knock them down a peg.
2Batman: Arkham Asylum
It’s Da Bat
Batman: Arkham Asylum
I could be super reductive here and say that the reason we include this one is simply because, you’re Batman, which would be fine, by the way. But, I’ll elaborate ever so slightly.
Despite the fact that progression is tied to abilities on account of this game being a rare example of a 3D metroidvania, Arkham Asylum doesn’t lock the feeling of power behind progression. After all, what kind of Superhero would he be if he were learning on the job?
From the first moment you step into the role of the Caped Crusader, you’ll be able to deliver slobber knockers with ease, and as you gain more gadgets, the stealth and combat possibilities only make you more of a threat to the thugs on screen.
This feeling perhaps doesn’t translate to the boss fights within the game, which are a mixed bag to say the least, but overall, it sounds cliche, but the game makes you feel like Batman. So, dive into this modern classic, and own the night.
