Large-scale crossovers have been a big part of Marvel Comics’ M.O. for decades now. Comic events, movies, and games likeMarvel Rivalsgive us a chance to see our favorite heroes and villains in new settings and styles.
Marvel Rivals in particular gives us some of the most dynamic action we’ve seen many Marvel characters engaged in outside of movies.

Marvel Rivals Hero Tier List: All Characters Ranked
A breakdown of every hero currently in Marvel Rivals
This kind of setting is a big opportunity for both Marvel fans and staff to bring in characters that we don’t get to see very often, or would like to see in a playable form.

The complete Marvel stable is too gargantuan to comb through entirely, though, so let’s see if we can’t narrow things down to a few choice picks.
10Doctor Octopus
Eight Times The Fun
If we’re looking for villains to add to the roster, we definitely need a representative from one of the most notorious Marvel villain teams, the Sinister Six. Who better to receive the honor than Dr. Otto Octavius, AKA Doctor Octopus?
Doc Ock’s mechanical arms give him an impressive degree of strength and dexterity, while his genius intellect lends itself to the creation of all kinds of gadgets and gizmos.

Whether it’s crushing foes head-on or harassing them with Octobots, Doc Ock’s hero shooter applications are wider than the bangs of his bowl cut.
He’s also had nearly as many incarnations as his nemesis Spider-Man, so he’d be ripe for costume potential.

9The Thing
It’s Clobberin’ Time
After being bombarded by cosmic rays, Benjamin Grimm transformed into the stone-skinned everlovin’ blue-eyed Thing.
The Fantastic Four is a Marvel team that’s been rather underutilized in recent years, so adding their most distinctive member to Marvel Rivals would get them some much needed screentime.

Thing’s applications as a tank unit are obvious, with his rock-hard skin protecting allies and repelling attacks.
He’d also make a good large-bodied unit, which there aren’t many of besides Hulk, Groot, and Venom. Besides all that, though, we just really wanna hear him say his catchphrase.
8Blackheart
Hasn’t Been In A Game In A While
Blackheart is a creature of pure malice created as a “son” by the powerful demon Mephisto. He’s tangled with the likes of Ghost Rider, Daredevil, and Punisher, and has proven himself formidable regularly.
Blackheart hasn’t made any video game appearances in a hot minute, with his last headliner role being all the way back in Marvel VS Capcom 2. This was technically just a holdover from his appearance in Marvel Super Heroes.
It’s a shame, because Blackheart is a cool character with lots of nifty demonic abilities like summoning imp minions and conjuring meteorites.
Frankly, we could use a little demon spice in the Marvel Rivals roster.
Perfect Hero Shooter Ability
Remy LeBeau, better known as Gambit, is one of the most well-known members of the classic X-Men comics andanimated series.
His mutant ability allows him to imbue objects with unstable energy, transforming them into explosives.
Gambit has remained a popular member of the X-Men over the years thanks to his charming, mysterious vibe, and we certainly wouldn’t mind his New Orleans flavor in Marvel Rivals.
He’d be a great mobile offense unit, as he’s a well-known athlete and acrobat. Plus, he could always fall back on his signature bo staff if he runs out of playing cards to blow up.
6Silver Surfer
The Power Cosmic Is Flexible
Herald to the great devourer, Galactus, the Silver Surfer is blessed with the seemingly limitless might of the Power Cosmic.
Considering Galacta’s our MC for Marvel Rivals, it would make a degree of sense to have the Surfer in the lineup. It could either be the one we know or an offshoot under her employ.
The fun thing about the Power Cosmic is that you make up pretty much whatever you want, and it’ll work.
Just have the Surfer fly around on his surfboard, pelt foes with energy rays, and maybe drop some buffs on allies. We could use more free-flying units to give Stark a run for his money.
5Apocalypse
Could Work In Any Role
Apocalypse is one of the most dangerous foes ever faced by the X-Men. He’s an ancient mutant packing Celestial technology with an immensely flexible set of powers and abilities.
That flexibility could prove beneficial for fitting him for a combat role in Marvel Rivals. Apocalypse’s molecular control and technopathy would be great for offensive, defensive, and support roles.
10 Best X-Men Games, Ranked
If you want to live out your mutant fantasies in a video game, this list has you covered.
Whatever the developers cook up, it would probably fit just fine within Apocalypse’s established parameters.
It’s also worth noting thatMagikmakes a reference to helping Apocalypse in a dialogue with Moon Knight, so the big blue guy already has a foot in the door.
4Black Bolt
Shout It Out
The Inhuman king Blackagar Boltagon, Black Bolt for short, is one of the most powerful individuals in the Marvel universe.
By channeling mysterious energies through his voice, even the slightest whisper packs enough force to level a city.
Black Bolt’s always fun to include in crossover punch-ups, as it’s entertaining to think up ways to keep his immense powers on a level playing field. His voice could deal wide-reaching or continuous damage, which would be good for crowd-control.
It’s also amusing to see him engage in one-sided conversations with other characters, particularly wise-crackers like Spider-Man.
3Luke Cage
A Perfect Compact Tank
Luke Cage, occasionally also known as Power Man, gained superhuman strength and impenetrable skin from an experimental procedure.
He worked as a partner with the original Iron Fist as a pair of “heroes for hire.” While theIron Fist in Marvel Rivalsisn’t the one he knows, they’d still be good fodder for ateam-up ability.
As for what he’d do, Luke would be a perfect compact tank unit, drawing aggro and damage away from allies and pummeling foes with powerful blows.
He’s also often depicted carrying around a large chain, so that’d be perfect for a standby weapon.
2Moon Girl (And Devil Dinosaur)
Everyone Loves A T-Rex
Lunella Lafayette, also known as Moon Girl, is one of the most intelligent individuals in the world thanks to her Inhuman-powered mind.
She’s also best buddies with the enormous Devil Dinosaur, the appeal of which is obvious.
As a Marvel Rivals unit, Moon Girl could deploy all kinds of gadgets to buff and support allies and disorient enemies.
It probably wouldn’t be fair to have Devil accompany her at all times, but she could definitely call him up for herUltimate ability. Don’t lie to yourself: you want to stomp around a battlefield as a T-rex.
Leaning On The Fourth Wall
While Deadpool is usually Marvel’s go-to for a meta character, he’s gotten a bit played out lately. Instead, how about someone who can lean on the fourth wall in a more literal sense, Gwenpool?
Gwendolyn “Gwen” Poole possesses the mysterious ability to directly interact with her medium. In the comics, she could jump between panels or hide in the gutter space between pages.
It would be cool to see this power through the lens of a video game; she could obscure enemy UIs by blocking them with her hands, or “retcon” away damage to herself or her allies.
Gwen is also best friends withJeff the Land Shark, and don’t even pretend you don’t want more cute Jeff shenanigans.
