MMORPGs(Pronounced Muhmorpaguh) are Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Games. As expected, these are games withRPGelements and a multitude of players to enjoy them with but more importantly, they tout vast amounts of content that aim to keep you entranced for hours at a time.

10/10 Dungeons & Dragons Online

Old, but gold,Dungeons & Dragons Onlineprovides a very authentic MMORPG experience. While it is similar toWoWin some ways, it remains faithful to the rules ofD&D3.5 and the setting of Eberron. It is a complete role-playing experience with all the popular classes and races you love from D&D including the ever-interesting Warforged.

Despite its age and clunkiness, it is still very much worth considering over a more recent relative that takes place in the Forgotten Realms, Neverwinter. Comparatively, Neverwinter has a bit more polish to it that makes it easier to get into, but it lacks much of the charm that draws players to DDO.

9/10 Path of Exile

If you likeDiablo, you will lovePath of Exile. It takes the beloved game series formula and applies it to a much larger scale. The main draw of the game is its expansive skill tree system where character builds can be as unique as you wish.

With each node on a colossal grid giving you stat increases and special passives that will allow you to make whatever kind of character you envision This, combined with the plethora of active and passive skill gems and ways to combine them make each character unique in the way isometric RPGs love to provide.

8/10 Dungeon Fighter Online

In a sea of action MMORPGs,Dungeon Fighter Onlinestands out a bit from the crowd. It mixes normal MMORPG elements with a 90’s arcade-style beat ‘em up that works impressively well.

Originally made in 2005, it was relaunched in 2015 with renewed vigor. It has since been going strong and remains one of the highest-grossing MMORPGs out there. If you’ve played or were interested in the spinoff arcade fighterDNF Duel, then DFO (DNF in Korea) is definitely worth checking out to see the original that spawned it.

7/10 Vindictus

While it has aged considerably over the years, what still remains is a very solid MMORPG still deserving of its designation as one of the most prominent Korean MMOs (KMMOs.) It will take you some time to get into, but what you will find is a quintessential MMO experience.

Among other things,Vindictus’scombat is its main claim to face, being one of the most fluid experiences you will find in a game like this. It’s a fast-paced action slash where every action counts and fighting isn’t just pressing a skill or two but reading the enemy’s attacks. It is very much worth seeing to believe.

6/10 RuneScape

RuneScape. What more is there to say? If you are considering playing a free-to-play MMORPG, then RuneScape should be one of the first to consider if you have yet to play it. It has everything you need. Crafting, gathering, monsters, bosses, and PvP.

And best of all, RuneScape exists in its contemporary form as well as the officially supported 2007 version so you’re able to play whichever you prefer.Old School RuneScapeof course, is the main thing you might think of when you hear the name as it is beloved by many. However, RuneScape 3 is still a wonderful experience as Jagex has had time to learn, update, and evolve their mainstay of an MMO property and keep it fresh.

Old School Runescape

5/10 Tree of Savior

Another oldie,Ragnarok Onlineis another MMORPG that may not be the first but influenced a lot of the culture moving forward. This game,Tree of Savioris made by the original creator of RO and exists as a spiritual successor to the game.

The cute art and 2.5D graphical style of the game help to evoke a similar feeling you might have had if you played RO. If not, then you will be pleasantly surprised by the plethora of classes available to you in the game, allowing you to be as creative as you wish by picking and choosing the ones you want to use to create a class combo with a creative skill set.

4/10 Guild Wars 2

Guild Wars 2was a game originally released as a game you buy into, but after some years it transitioned into free-to-play, so now everyone can try it. This one is a more traditional “tab targeting” MMORPG, but don’t let this fool you as it has a lot of creative additions that spice things up.

It has a unique twist on the classic fantasy races, classes, and skills you would expect in an MMORPG as well as a fun and engaging action combat system that revolves around the use of a smaller, more focused selection of skills. This has the benefit of both making your character build a little more impactful as everything is tailored to your preferred play style.

3/10 Albion Online

This game is true to its publisher’s name, Sandbox Interactive, by providing players with one of the most satisfying sandbox MMORPG experiences in a long while. At a glance,Albion Onlinebears many of gamers’ favorite similarities to Runescape but with a more contemporary feel to it.

While the crafting and gathering elements may interest you, the main draw to this game is its satisfying PvP system. Both open world and instanced based as well as combination PvEvP dungeons that allow you to fight monsters and players in intense battles, wagering all your loot in the process.

2/10 Phantasy Star Online 2

Phantasy Staris a beloved sci-fi fantasy franchise that has the prestige of being one of the oldest ongoing RPG series of all time. Ever since it burst into the MMO scene withPhantasy Star Online,Segahas no intention of stopping.

Phantasy Star Online 2remains Japan’s biggest MMORPG to date alongsideFinal Fantasy XIVand likely will continue to be for some time with the release of its complete overhaul/sequel New Genesis. PSO2 has always had a grand sense of scale in its visuals and its action-packed gameplay has always been very engaging, but with an entirely new game engine, New Genesis managed to improve upon the experience.

1/10 Lost Ark

Korean MMORPGs are known amongst fans of MMOs to consistently be one of the most immersive (and grindy) games among their peers.Lost Arkis definitely no exception to either of these traits as it has become yet another landmark game in KMMO history.

The gameplay features another unique spin on the popular isometric RPG formula that somehow continues to impress us. The obvious difference between this and Path of Exile however is just how seamlessly they’ve managed to bring the best of both Diablo and MMORPGs together in unity. You’ll go from uncovering the secrets of its remarkable story to sailing between islands in its vast open world to gathering and crafting goods for your very own island with player housing. It’s very easy to sink way too many hours into your character as you work your way towards unlocking the next thing.
