Thunderbolts*will soon be debuting on the big screens within the course of less than half a year, and the hype surrounding it couldn’t be louder. While it is expected to bring together an epic team of supervillains recruited to go on missions for the government, fans also have high hopes for this upcoming movie to heal viewers from superhero fatigue.

For quite some time now, viewers have been having a hard time adjusting to superhero flicks — a phenomenon that is being deemed superhero fatigue by many. And while there are a lot of reasons behind this, one seems to be the excessive use of CGI and green screens. But with Florence Pugh’s upcoming piece for the MCU, this might as well change in one unexpected way.

Thunderbolts*is expected to heal superhero fatigue in one unexpected way

Even though the MCU has long been a frontrunner in the entertainment field, building big-budgeted projects that have been earning them more than enough projects, it seems to be losing its charm now. WhileDeadpool & Wolverinedid manage to uphold the franchise’s reputation withits record-breaking runafter the saga’s slew of failures, the superhero fatigue hasn’t subsided entirely.

One of the biggest reasons why viewers seem to be so done with superhero flicks is because a lot of them pretty much walk on the same themes, with all the incredibly strong CGI and green screen works. However, this might as well be changed to a significant extent withThunderbolts*, considering actressJulia Louis-Dreyfus‘ recent words on the same.

“I just live in fear”: Marvel’s Unyielding No-Spoiler Policy Put Thunderbolts* Star Julia Louis-Dreyfus in the Toughest Spot for 1 Sole Reason

Louis-Dreyfus, 63, who perfectly embodies Valentina Allegra de Fontaine in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, recently expressed in an interview withEntertainment Weeklythat this upcoming anti-hero/villain movie of hers will reportedly have more grounded fight scenes and stunts than what fans may be expecting from a film this big from the super-franchise.

What’s great about this film is it’s got sort of a grittiness that matches up well with the comedy, and there’s not a lot of green screen,” said Louis-Dreyfus. “There’s not these special effects that go on for hours. It’s people doing their own stunts. It’s got a rawness that I think the audience is going to very much enjoy, sort of going back to roots in that sense.

That said, it’s evident that fans might as well expect to witness a lot more practical stuff with the stunts and the fight scenes and a lot fewer green screens and CGIs. While this turn of events means fans will get to have a more grounded experience, it also hints there’s a much lesser chance of CGI-based disasters striking as they have done before.

Through this unexpected way, the film could heal superhero fatigue as well, which seems to have been established afterAvengers: EndgameandSpider-Man: No Way Home. This stands true considering how nearly every film since then — be itThe MarvelsorThor: Love and Thunderor simplyAnt-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania—has turned out to be a massive disappointment.

Julia Louis-Dreyfus is already setting hopes high withThunderbolts*

During the same interview, Julia Louis-Dreyfus also shared how her character Val will really be explored in this upcoming film, explaining how it will finally reveal all of her schemes. “This movie’s a real opportunity for me to really explore the Val character. You really get to know what she’s made of, and even a lot of her backstory. She’s in it to win it,” she said.

That said, this upcoming anti-hero/villain team-up flick won’t just be aiming to clear off a bit of that superhero fatigue with its ostensibly minimal CGI/green screen use, but will also attempt to provide that ultimate entertaining experience to the viewers. As Louis-Dreyfus said about the film:

It’s a completely different beast.

Well, from what it seems like,Florence Pugh‘s next for the Marvel Cinematic Universe holds some really supreme expectations on its shoulders as it is expected to bring forward something different and unique that could bring back fans’ interest and excitement in the superhero-verse. What remains to be seen is how much the film actually lives up to the expectations.

Thunderbolts* is set to hit the screens on August 25, 2025.
